I decided to write a detailed Z grills L600E review to explain some of the most amazing features I liked about the grill.
The Upgraded Z Grills L600E (Z Grills Flame Elite 600D3E) is among the best wood pellet grills on the market. It has a cooking surface area of about 600 inches meaning that you can use it to cook enough foods for a family gathering.
It is among the models in the Z-Grills 600 series, that provide delicious foods with a natural wood flavor. Besides that, it is very easy to use and highly versatile.

Stainless steel construction
One of the things I love about this grill is its heavy-duty construction which makes it stable when cooking. It is made of a combination of steel and stainless steel to enhance sturdiness as well as durability. The grates are made of non-stick ceramic for easier cleaning.
Just like some of the other Z grills I reviewed, the Z Grills Elite Flame 600D3E is equipped with casters to enhance movements. These castors are not very strong but they enhance the stability of the unit.
When it comes to capacity, this grill is spacious enough for those with a large family. Even when there is a family gathering, you can rely on it to cook enough food since it has a total cooking area of 572 square inches.
The lower rack has a measurement of 332 squire inches while the upper rack has a measurement of 240 square inches. It can accommodate 24 burgers, 4 chickens, and 5 ribs.
With this unit, I can prepare 8 different types of foods since it is an 8-in-1appliance. You can use it to sear, char-grill, smoke, BBQ, braise, grill, roast, and bake.
Digital PID Controller
This feature allows the grill to maintain consistent temperatures when cooking. As a result, every meal I prepare using it is always tasty. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with an inbuilt meat probe for monitoring the temperatures.
Assembling the Z grills L600E is very easy since it comes with an instruction manual which I found easy to follow. You will realize that most of the parts, trays, and racks have lubricants that you should burn before you start grilling.
Starting it up
You won’t have any problems when starting the Z grills L600E since you only need to open the lid and then rotate the dial to smoke.
After about 10 minutes, you will see smoke and the pellets will start burning. Once the pellets start burning, you can set your preferred temperatures, and once reached add your meat.
If you love searing, this cooking appliance will be an awesome choice since it claims very high temperatures up to 750⁰F which is good for searing chicken, steaks, etc.
I see more and more manufacturers bringing out pellet grills with open flame.
To activate the searing mode, you just need to open the air door and then set the maximum temperatures from the control.
However, I realized that when you open the heat shield to allow open flame cooking, the grease tray becomes dirty and difficult to clean. To prevent this, I normally wrap the drip pan using heavy-duty aluminum foil for easier cleaning.
There is a grease collection bucket that is located below the grill. It is enclosed in the lower cabinet meaning that you cannot knock it accidentally.
However, it doesn’t come with an ash cleanout tray meaning that you may require a shop vac when cleaning the sawdust and grease build-up at the bottom of the unit.
You will also find a round butterfly vent on top of the firepot which allows you to cook using a direct flame. Just open it to allow the flame to reach the cooking rack. This feature makes searing to be very easy and efficient.
Although since it has a small surface you can only use it basically for one piece of meat at a time.
Double-door storage cabinet
Unlike most of the pellet grills I have used, this one comes with a double-door storage cabinet where you can keep all your grilling tools, gears, or extension cords.
This cabinet is located below the grill to allow you to keep your items out of sight. The grill also comes with a foldable side shelf which is very useful for preparing different ingredients.
On the right side of the table, you will see grill hangers where you can keep your tools or utensils. Apart from that, there is a bottle top opener located at the front of the unit.
With a pellet hopper capacity of 8 lbs, the Z grills Flame Elite 600D3E doe only holds a small number of pellets. This might be enough for grilling most foods but you have to refill the hopper when I used it for longer cooks.
When I looked at this grill, it was nicely packed in the shipping box. It came with a pair of assembly gloves, a quick assembly sheet, a user manual, and assembly components such as a screwdriver and wrenches. However, it doesn’t come with a grill cover.
The Z grills L600E comes with a 3 years warranty which applies to defects in materials and workmanship. Within this period the Z grills company can replace or repair the defective parts of the unit.

Z Grills L600E Review – My Opinion
The Z grills-L600E is on my favorite pellet grill list due to its features and size. It is also more affordable as compared to similar grills from other brands.
The upgraded 600D3E model offers even more options and features.
Anytime you are using it, you are almost assured of getting foods with an excellent taste. You can use it for 8 different cooking styles including searing.
It is not perfect but it has all the important features you may need when grilling.
I consider the Z-Grills L600E its size to be suited for smaller families but still being able to cook enough food on it for visitors you might have.
