What I found in my Snake River Farms review is that, in combination with, the Double R Ranch it is one of the best-known places to buy meat online.

They have a large selection including American Wagyu, Korobuta pork, and dry-aged beef. Their meat is used in high-quality restaurants and is also found more and more in the BBQ competition world.

I read several blogs from backyard grillers and more professional cooks who are writing about how the Snake River meats that they send them are of excellent quality.

Last Update: October, 2024

Some of the most mentioned pros of Snake River farms were:

  • Soft-touch
  • Tender
  • very well marbled
  • Restaurant quality
  • Great tasting

Many people who took the time to write a Snake River Farms review mentioned these things and the fact that the meat cooks fast and does not need any seasoning.

Snake River Farms runs specials and discounts on a regular basis and you can have a look at them by clicking this link.

About Snake River Farms

Snake River Farms is founded in 1968 and is located in Boise Idaho. As a family-owned business, it started out small and slowly grew to be a well-known place to buy high-quality meat online.

They have a few things that they cherish in their way of providing us with great meat and that is:

  • Sustainability
  • Quality
  • Animal well-being
  • Responsibility

To achieve this they have a certain way of running their business. Including taking care of their animals in the best way possible. To do this they have taken certain steps like:

  • Rotational grazing
  • Recycle cattle waste into compost
  • Biogas to power their plant
  • Buy feed within 150 miles

All these steps, and other ones they take, make their cows use 40% less water.

Employees are trained to use techniques that reduce stress on the animals and they also check their cattle on a daily basis.

Any animal that shows any sign of being sick is receiving personal attention and not, like on many other farms, where the whole herd gets treated.

Here is a short introduction video from this meat delivery company.

American Wagyu From Snake River Farms

Wagyu is also known under the name American style Kobe beef and is the result of cross-breeding Japanese Wagyu cattle with American breeds.

This meat is one of the best sellers from the Snake River Farms. If you are in a hurry you can find it all on this page.

You can find American Wagyu cuts like:

  • Steaks
  • Roast
  • Brisket
  • Burger
  • Hotdogs
  • Ribs
  • Specialty items

According to its website, Snake River Farms is the premier producer of American Wagyu. They claim it is served in top-rated restaurants all over the world.

As you might know American Wagyu beef is a crossbreed between Japanese Wagyu and specially selected continental breeds of cattle.

Snake River Farms Kurobuta Pork

Kurobuta pork is the equivalent of Kobe beef in pork. It is of high quality and is made of pure Berkshire hogs. This is a rule of the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture. If you are interested in this Kurobuta pork from the Snake River Farms you can find it here.

For the Kurobuta pork, they have the following cuts: pork chops, ham, ribs, roasts, bacon, and specialty items.

  • Pork chops
  • Ham
  • Ribs
  • Roast
  • Bacon
  • Specialty items

The Korobuta pork that the Snake River Farms carries is all made from Berkshire pigs, which was a mandate from the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture and is known for its hefty fat content and tenderness.

Many people call this Korobuta pork also Gourmet pork since it is so much more tender than the traditional meat you buy in your local grocery store.

Snake River Farms Hot Dogs

One of the most looked-for items on their site is the hot dogs. The reason is their great taste and excellent flavor. You can find them here.

They carry two kinds of hotdogs.

American Wagyu hot dogs

What sometimes is described as Gourmet hot dogs is one of the most sold items in their store.

The Snake River Farms American Wagyu hot dog is, as the name gives away, made of American Wagyu and this combined with their spices and slow-cooked on hardwood gives them their unique flavor.

Premium Style Hot Dogs

They of course also offer the Double R ranch hot dogs that are made in the Northwest by using their old family recipe.

This recipe uses a blend of hardwood for smoking to give it its unique taste.

This writing also answers the question of where you can buy Snake River Farms hot dogs. Just click on one of the links on this page.

Snake River Farms Steaks

I did a lot of reading to have a good Snake River Farms steak review that makes sense.

Let’s first make a little list of the steaks you can order from them.

  • Cowboy steak
  • Wagyu ribeye steak
  • Flat iron steak
  • Flank steak
  • Zabuton steak
  • New York strip

I had never heard of a Zabuton steak but found that it is also called a Denver steak. It is cut from the upper part of the chuck and is a very tasty but small piece of steak.

This list is not complete of course but I just mention the best-selling steaks on Snake River Farm.

Let’s have a look at someone who is unboxing a Wagyu New York steak at home.

If you want to have a good look at all their steaks you can have a look at a special page they have for that.

Shipping

I wrote earlier about how the Snake River Farms shipping worked and I did some research about complaints but was not able to find them.

Even after sitting outside for a couple of hours, someone mentioned that it was still frozen solid and there was still dry ice in the package.

Shipping is processed Monday through Friday. Delivery will be at your house from Tuesday till Saturday according to the day you choose at checkout. For Saturday delivery there is a $15 upgrade of the cost.

There are 4 shipping options and they all have their own price tag. Here is a short overview of the Snake River Farms shipping cost.

  • Standard shipping is $9.99
  • Express shipping is $39.99
  • Overnight shipping is $79.99
  • Saturday $15.00 upgrade

These prices might have changed since my writing this Snake River Farms review so do your own checking on this part.

It is easier to see how it is packed and unboxed in a video. Not only can you see how the packaging is but also how the Snake River Wagyu Ribeye, Tomohawk, and prime cowboy steak look.

You can see that it still was very well frozen and that most of the packaging is decomposable and can be recycled.

Snake River Farms Review – My Opinion

With all the options and choices I think the Snake River Farms is a great choice for ordering grass-fed beef, Kurobuta pork, and dry-aged beef.

My only personal small concern would be that their beef is not grass-finished but the beef is fed grain and corn after being fed grain.. Although this might be no concern for many other people I prefer grass-finished.

The quality of all the meat is very good and I was not able to find any complaints about that. Many restaurants that hold Michelin stars are using their meat.

When I was trying to find out how the Snake River Farms steak was I only found very good results and especially their Wagyu steaks got some raving reviews for the way they looked and their taste.

I hope this article and my Snake River Farms reviews will help you decide if Snake River Farms is a good choice for ordering online beef and pork. You can find their website at the following link.
