How To Smoke A Turkey Breast
I used many types of grills and smokers and they all work well for this recipe. I have used my Ugly Drum Smoker that I built myself with part from the Hunsaker smoker website.
But, as I mentioned above you can use any type of smoker and many people use their pellet smoker with great tasting results.
One of the reasons that I choose a turkey breast over whole turkey is that the internal temperature only has to come to 165 degrees Fahrenheit instead of 185 for a whole turkey.
Here are the steps:
- Make sure the turkey breast is thawed out and pat it dry
- Rub the Turkey breast with the rub
- Optional you can inject it with a mix of melted butter and your rub
- Let it sit overnight if you can. If not at least 2 hours
- Pre-heat smoker to 225 Fahrenheit
- Place Turkey breast on the smoker and add a temperature probe in the thickest part.
- Smoke till the internal temperature reaches 165 Fahrenheit
- Remove the turkey breast from the smoker and cover it with aluminum foil
- Let it rest for about 20 minutes.
