In this Presto 07046 review, I will help you find all there is to know about this flat grill with the tilt and drain option. This griddle from the Presto Cool Touch series can be considered an extra-large electric griddle looking at its measurements.
It is very versatile in its use and can go from pancake griddle to cooking all meats and vegetables for a family dinner.

Grill surface of the 07046 cool touch griddle
With the rule of thumb that you need about 70 sq inches per person, this large griddle can cook for a family of 4 with no problem.
These 70 square inches are including meat and vegetables if you think about dinner. I read a comment from someone who mentioned that they could grill 9 grill cheese sandwiches at the same time.
Another user is able to cook 12 scrambled eggs at the same time. These numbers will give you an idea of how big this grill really is.
Like any Teflon kind of material, you should not use any scrubby pads that contain metal to clean the surface to prevent damaging the coating. You can see my recommendation for silicone spatulas at the end of this review.

Material of the grate
Since I believe there are rules about the user of non-stick materials I assume it does not contain PFOA as all other brands do nowadays.

Customer Reviews of the Presto 07046 tilt’n drain griddle
“After much research, I finally broke down and bought the Presto Tilt’nDrain BigGriddle because I liked the enormous cooking area it offered. And I liked the fact that is was made of heavy cast aluminum and that it sat perfectly level (some griddles have sloped cooking decks to allow grease and juices to run away from the foods… NOT desirable when making pancakes or scrambled eggs.) And I liked how the griddle can be quickly adjusted so that it WILL tilt forward which *does* allow grease to run away when you want it to! …”
“I’ve been using this griddle for 2 years now and it’s been excellent. It’s very big, we keep ours on top of the refrigerator where it’s mostly unnoticeable but it would take up a LOT of cabinet space, otherwise. It’s worth it, however, because it’s so much fun to use. I love cooking on this thing . .there’s tons of room, the temperature control works great and it heats pretty evenly. There are a couple of hot spots but it’s not really an issue for me. I’ve used mine for pancakes, cornbread, burgers, eggs, grilled cheese but my favorite is bacon. I can cook a whole lb of bacon at once, depending on the cut. I set the temp for around 290 and get perfectly cooked bacon and super clean bacon grease – the tilt feature is awesome here. …(read more : here)”

My opinion about the Presto 07046 cool touch electric griddle
It took me quite a while to scroll and read through all the positive and negative ratings I found for this Presto tabletop grill on many online sources. The overall impression I got from that is that this Presto cool touch big daddy griddle like some people call it can maybe also be called the largest griddle but I have no proof of that yet.
Overall I think that the ratings I found are good and accurate. I only believe that some of the more negative meanings are not based on reality. This electric indoor griddle is fairly cheap priced and some people expect a commercial quality for that price and that is comparing apples to pears in my opinion.
The size was mentioned many times as the biggest plus for this griddle and many people said that it saved them time and the use of multiple skillets to cook a meal. This of course also saved on cleaning afterward and who does not like that idea?
There were some mixed opinions about the evenly heating and to be honest I think no griddle can heat evenly unless you would maybe spend a fortune on a commercial one that comes with an extra thick bottom.
The tilting option got good reviews and there were just warnings that if you cook a lot of bacon at a time that contains a lot of fat the drip pan might get full fast.
All you have to do is pull the handles outward and the tilt is there. If you prefer a flat grill just keep the handles in and there you have it.
The size of the drip pan is considered a pretty good size and except for the bacon grease I mentioned above there were not a lot of problems with it. One person wrote that it cracked after 3 years and he used super glue to fix it.
The way the controller is attached to the unit with the magnetic function has never been my favorite and I found a few remarks about it not sticking too well, but they also mentioned not to push it in too hard. So this might be causing the little loose connection once in a while.
The controller itself seems to work pretty well and it ranges the temperature between 175 and 400 degrees Fahrenheit. I read that someone tested it with an infrared thermometer and mention it was pretty well spot on. Others wrote that the lowest they could find was 200 degrees. No big problem I think this is not mended to be a warm hold rack but a griddle.
The power cord is connected to the controller at the right side of the griddle and the length is 30 inches. This is longer than I have seen for many other brands.
Like always there were some minor complaints about the plastic legs and again I can only say that you get what you pay for.
The storage of the Presto 07046 can be a little challenging with the size it comes in. I found that the top of the refrigerator can be a good place for it. You can also store it on its side in your kitchen cabinet as many people do.
The surface is smooth and large but it is also important to know the height. The height measured at the highest point is 3.5 inches and this is good to know to find a place to store it.
Cleaning was not called a hard thing except that the size makes it hard to fit in the sink maybe. This electric griddle can be fully submerged in water and that is a big plus compared to other models and brands. It is also dishwasher safe although I read somewhere that the dish soap used in dishwashers in combination with the force of the water can damage the non-stick coating.
The advice, for all nonstick surfaces, is not to use metal scrubby pads. This will damage the non-stick surface and makes it basically useless.
Most cleaning can be done with simple water and dish soap. Wiping it down right after using it with a paper towel is a good idea to get most of the grease and dirt off. This also makes the rest of the cleaning easier.
Overall I can recommend this Presto 07046 cool touch as a good buy in the price range of this indoor electric griddle/
Recommended
I always recommend the use of plastic or wooden spatulas on any non-stick surface and no metal to prevent damaging the surface.
I found two sets that came with great reviews from many buyers.
This silicone spatula is from the di Oro series and is heat resistant to 600 degrees and which is far higher than the maximum temperature of the Presto 07046.
With almost 200 ratings and an average of 4.4 this one, I can recommend it.
Although the price might be a little high the quality is also high.

4.4 stars from over 970 people who bought this OXO good grips silicone pancake spatula that is very flexible. Think this is enough recommendation to use this spatula on your Presto griddle or even any other griddle.
Also available as a mini-turner and if you prefer as a nylon spatula.

Tips from real users
Since this griddle is big you might need to find a place to store it. A few tips mentioned are to store it on top of the refrigerator.
If you cook bacon make sure that the grease trap is clean and you will have some clear bacon grease for cooking other dishes.
If you are still not sure if the Presto 07046 tilt and drain cool touch grill is what you are looking for you can have a look at all our other Presto indoor grill reviews I did for you.
