Grill surface of the Philips Smoke-less grill HD6371.98

One of the most important things to know when buying any grill is how large the grill surface is.
The Philips grill area measures 12 x 7 inches. This adds up to 84 square inches. A little larger than some of the other indoor grill brands in what I call a basic indoor grill and large enough for a small family.

Material of the grate

I am always very interested in the material of the grates. It can make your indoor grilling a great or a bad experience.

The grate is made of die-cast aluminum with a non-stick coating. Since there are some discussions going on about the so-called Teflon coating it is important to know that the Philips smokeless grill review showed that the non-stick coating is PTFE and free of PFOA. That seems to be the bad part of the older non-stick products.

Features of this Philips grill

  • 1660 Watts
  • Weights 5.6 kg (15.5 Lbs)
  • Infrared technology
  • Dishwasher safe parts
  • 3 foot cord
  • 3 temperature settings
  • Removable drip pan

Let’s have a little better look at the infrared technology in this Philips smokeless indoor grill review.
Infrared in this case means that the two heating elements are placed on the side. Behind them is a reflector and before them a glass plate.
This assures an even heat distribution over the grill surface.

Customer Reviews of the Philips indoor grill

I have been reading a lot of opinions about this indoor grill. Here are some of the points that stood out the most in the Philips smokeless grill review. Like always I found people who love it and people who would never buy it again.

Philips smokeless indoor grill customer ratings

The mention of the word “smoke-less” should be taken with a grain of salt. Many users still mention that it smokes, but a lot less than many other indoor grills because of the infrared elements being on the side and not under the grill grates.

Some users mentioned that they still were able to set off the smoke alarm in the kitchen.

Heating up takes about 5 minutes and that is pretty much standard for indoor electric grills.

Some complaints about the infrared element being hard on the eyes. There is a warning in the manual not to look at the light for an extended period of time. Hard to do when you are grilling and looking at your meat I read.

Philips smoke-less indoor grill review – My Opinion

After doing the Philips smokeless grill review there are a few things that you need to take into consideration before buying this indoor electric BBQ.

Overall I think after doing the Philips smokeless grill review I can recommend this smokeless Philips indoor grill as a good grill/BBQ I just think that there were a little high many lower ratings concerning the overall quality and some arrived defective or broken very soon.
There are however higher ratings that really like it and recommend it to everyone.

As I mentioned it is not totally smoke-less but produces about 80% less smoke than most other brands.
The reason is that the heating element is on the side and not under the grill grates itself.
This means that dripping runs straight in the drip pan and does not touch the heating element.

The dripping pan was mentioned by several as a great part. By putting some aluminum foil on it all you have to do is slide it out and toss the foil in the trash.

This grill is made in Turkey
and not in China for a change.

There are 3 settings for the temperature. Off-Warm and hot. The temperature should go up to 450 degrees but I could not find proof of that, besides that people say it gets very hot.

Heating up is best done by letting the grill cycle on and of a few times. This should not take longer than 5 minutes and gives the grill grates time to heat up.

The Philips grill can be used for all types of meat and veggies I could not find anything that could not be cooked on it.

The price is a little steep and for some people that was a deal-breaker.

Cleaning got some mixed opinions I found. The tempered glass in front of the heating element is pretty easy to clean in general. With many dripping on it it can be a little harder to do, however.

For every grill, indoor or outdoor we advise the use of a handheld grill thermometer as we reviewed here on this page. The reason is that I found that my cooking improved with them. No more under or overcooked meat.

Recommended for the Philips smokeless grill

The cleaning seems to go a lot easier with the OXO good grips electric grill press brush.

Philips Smokeless Grill rotissery

The rotisserie did not get a lot of reviews yet and that makes it hard to give a recommendation as a good accessory for the Philips smokeless grill.

I found in the features that the most part can be cleaned in the dishwasher and I like that.
Of course, you have to take the motor off and keep this dry.

I am not happy that it runs on batteries. There are other ones that use 110 volts and this is more powerful.

Tips from real users
