George Foreman GR144 Review
(Click Here To See The Price)>

This George Foreman GR144 review surprised me. I was not expecting so many reviews for what looked like a regular family-size indoor electric contact grill. I had no problem finding many things to write about at all. This grill got some nice features but also some minor cons. Read it all and decide if this is the George Foreman for your household.

Have a look at our full in-depth George Foreman GRP4 review

Grill surface and temperature

This grill is advertised sometimes as being 144 square inches but in reality, it is a little smaller since the front is not as wide as the back. The size is 16 x 11 x 19. 16 inches in the back and 11 inches in the front. According to the manufacturer is 133 square inches.

The fixed element heats the grill up very fast and keeps the temperature during grilling very stable.
This is the advantage of fixed plates over removable plates. The heat is more consistent and heating the grill up goes faster.

Cleaning

Although cleaning is of course not as easy as a grill with removable plates this grill is still easy to clean because of the nonstick surface on the grill plates.

The best tip I found was to take a wet paper towel right after you use the grill and wipe off both grill plates. This removes most of the grease and stuff on the surface and prevents it from sticking after the grill cooled off.

Features of the George Foreman GRP144

2 fixed plates that are coated with a double layer of non-stick material.
Fixed plates have some advantages over removable plates like being more effective with the heat with the integrated heating element.

The way this grill is set up with the back being higher than the front makes it that all the grease runs off to the front in the drip pan. Just be careful with very fat meats that the drip pan does not get too full and overflows. Read one warning about that.

Heating up this grill is very fast because of the fixed plates. This always makes a grill a little more effective than one with removable grill plates.
Another advantage of integrated heating elements is that both sides will get just as hot.

The orange light will come on as soon as you plug the grill into the outlet and stays on till the grill is warm. Then it turns off and the grill is ready to use.

The floating hinges work great and if you use meat or sandwiches that have an even thickness the grill marks will be on both sides without having to turn it over.

There is no temperature control on this grill but I could not find anyone who was complaining about that. Most people do not use that anyway on this type of grills.

There is also no on/off switch and although no big problem I personally like to see a feature like that.

The use of an electric indoor grill is in most cases very cheap since you only use it for a short time and the heating up is pretty fast. An average electric grill cost you about 15 cents per hour.

There is once in a while a grill that comes with a defect and although this is annoying with a grill that is so popular and sold in such a high volume that can happen.
Make sure to use it as fast as you receive it to check it for working well to take care of the warranty if something is wrong with it.
Cons:
It was not easy to find many cons but here are the few we found.

  • Cleaning can be a little challenging
  • Needs a lot of space

The price compared to the performance is good and I think actually that the price is a little low for what this grill gives you. I have seen more expensive family-sized grills that performed not as well as this GR144 and were higher priced.
