Starting to write here about gas grills, gas grill reviews and all kinds of tips on how to use a gas grill made me realize that I will never end with this.

If it was just for the simple reason that there are new gas grills coming out every year and even more gadgets I could keep on writing about the subject for years to come.

What To Look At Before Buying A Gas Grill.

There are a few tips I can give you to think about before you run to the store and buy the first shining stainless steel gas grill you see.

How Big Of A Grill Do You Need?

Bigger is not always better when it comes to grills. Too big will waste your gas and too small will let you run out of space when you have guests to cook for.

A rule of thumb for the right size grill is the following formula.

(The number of people you cook for x 75 square inches) + 25% = grill surface of your gas grill.

For an average family of 4, this would mean 4 x 75 – 300 square inches.

However, it is a must to have 25% more room to move your doors around. and in general, the most popular gas grill is around 400 – 500 square inches.

For camping or for if you just use a gas grill once in a while you can also opt for one of the portable gas grills I reviewed.

Propane Or Natural Gas?

This is a choice that depends on if you have natural gas or not. For the performance of your gas grill, it does not make any difference.

Although I read somewhere that natural gas has a few more calories I have used both and never noticed any difference.
