Customer Reviews of the Camp Chefpro DLX
“I recently purchased this grill from Costco and have been smoking any kind of meat for about 3 weeks, it is amazing! Everything I cooked turned out just perfect. So far I tried pork shoulder, tuna steaks, pizza, chicken breasts and entire family loved the taste. I generally use hickory wood pellets but sometimes I mix it with apple if I’m smoking pork. I highly recommend this smoker to everyone, their technical service is also so friendly and helpful. Oh! do not forget to check the recipes on their web site!…”
“This thing is heavy. It’s made from some very durable, high quality material. Keep it dry and it should last you a lifetime.
Smoking with pellets is ingenious. Fill and easily empty the hopper with your preferred hardwood blend and smoke to perfection. Just keep the hopper full. It’s that easy. A chute in the back allows for quick and easy emptying of the hopper.
The digital temperature control and meat probe allows cooking to pinpoint temperatures. It’s almost impossible to mess up.
This model is quite large. Even without the rib rack, I’m smoking 3 whole racks simultaneously.
It comes apart easily for quick cleaning. The burner tray is easily emptied. Pull a rod out from under the side table to do so. The ash tray is easily accessible from underneath.
The smoker is designed to channel drippings down to the right, and down a chute into an included bucket. No muss, no fuss….(read more: Customer Reviews)”

Camp Chef smokepro DLX – My Opinion
After doing the Camp Chef smokepro pro DLX review and reading a ton of comments and ratings of people who really bought and used this Camp chef DLX I can only come to the conclusion that this pellet smoker is worth the 4.5 stars I gave it.
Many people say it works better than the Traeger pellet grills I reviewed.
The temperature settings of the Camp Chef Smokepro DLX stay pretty steady and with 85% of the users giving it a 4 or 5-star rating I think I can consider this a good buy.
I still think that a pellet grill is not too great for searing, but I read people cook some great steaks on it so it is probably just me.
With its temperature up to 500 degrees, it is able to cook any type of meat.
I was trying to find how many pellets it uses in this Camp Chef smokepro DLX review and it took me a while but I found these numbers.
The use of pellets seems to be very efficient. One person gave us the amount he used.
- At 220 degrees it used about 1/2 – 1/3 pound per hour.
- At 400 degrees about 1 pound per hour.
Just realize that it also has to do with the outside temperature of course. Cold weather acquires more pellets. You can use a welding blanket to keep the pellet usage lower I read.
There were some complaints about dust on the meat from the pellets, but this was caused by using certain cheap pellets.
Staring up the Camp Chef smokepro DLX takes about 15 – 20 minutes to reach 250 degrees and 20-35 to reach 350 degrees. It all depends on the outside temperature of course.
The used steel is pretty heavy but I have not been able to find the gauge for it.
The thermometer in the Camp Chef smokepro DLX is according to many people very accurate and reads within 10-15 degrees.
Someone tested the meat probe and wrote that it stayed within 4 degrees of another digital probe thermometer he had.
The cooking thermostat, like most pellet smokers, has some fluctuations and some mentioned the temperature staying higher than the 225 he set it on.
Although all these built-in thermometers seem to work pretty well I still like to use my own thermometers to check the accuracy.
There seems to be a little problem with the handle on the hopper letting rainwater sip in, but a little caulk takes care of that problem.
The Camp Chef customer service was mentioned several times as being very helpful and very knowledgeable about their product. In case of any problem, new parts were shipped out very fast with a great explanation of how to replace them.
Although the grill is made in China it is very well made and I could not find any complaints about it. They are assembled in Utah.
The Camp Chef smokeProdlx prices I found range from around 500 to almost 600 dollars. I have found the best price for nowhere for you.

Tips From Real Users I found in Camp Chef smokepro dlx reviews
For any pellet grill so also for the Camp Chef Smokepro DLX, it is hard to keep the temperature setting in colder climates. Some people use a welding blanket to keep the grill covered.
You can find a nice selection here on Amazon.
A cheaper solution is a cheap moving blanket that you can get for about 12 bucks. I found a nice deal here on Amazon or you.
Overall I think the Camp Chef smokepro DLX review shows us it can be considered a pretty good pellet smoker. Many people say it works better than the Traeger pellet grills I reviewed.
Other people mention that it is not as good as the Rec Tec pellet grills I reviewed here.
