I am Eddie van Aken and have been the owner of and did run my own restaurant for many years.
Before that, I worked as a grill cook and buffet cook in a few restaurants including some of the big chain ones.
For most of my life, I grilled at home like many others. Grilling some burgers, hotdogs, and some chicken on a simple charcoal grill.

How It All Got Started
In June 2014, I was looking for a new grill at home.
I love to grill and BBQ all types of meat and even vegetables, but because of my own full-service restaurant, I never did too much at home with the grill.
However, now I was looking for a grill I decided that I also was going to use it as much as possible.
This ended up by cooking outdoors about every time I had a chance and testing as many methods, grills, and grill recipes as possible.
I decided to share all my experiences on a website and that was the start of Better Grills.
Although I try to be as thorough as I can in my reviews and tips I still advise you to do your own research.
Why You Should Trust Me
Through my restaurant experience, I am used to dealing with and using all types of quality kitchen equipment, and I use my experience in this field to give my personal and professional opinion about the features in the grill reviews I do. Or any other item I review.
I am also active on several forums and FaceBook groups to find more information and share my experience there.
More recently I am writing and sharing content here almost on a daily basis. Even small things that I find can help you and me to make better use of our grills and cook better meals.
Don’t worry about me sharing only my positive experience but I will also let you know what mistakes I made in the past and still make.
How do I do my research on Better Grills?
I spend a lot of time doing the research and visiting consumer websites like amazon, Lowe’s, Home Depot, Walmart, and many more, where I read everything that people wrote about the product.
I visit the manufacturer’s websites to read all about the grills I am reviewing and sign up for their newsletter to stay informed and updated.
Spending a lot of time on product-related forums to find more real customer experiences to include in the grill reviews is very helpful.
Asking other people about their experience with the product I review gives me some top information I can use.
One thing I do if I am not able to find the answer is to contact the manufacturer by email or phone to find the right answers.
Some companies nowadays offer a chat function on their websites and I make use of this option a lot to save time and get the best possible answers.
For every grill review I do, I try to find it at a local store or anywhere else to have a look at it and see what I can find out about it.
This all ends up in a review where I include all my findings, but it will not just contain pros, but also cons and my final recommendation and personal opinion.
Besides grills and BBQ’s I also review meat delivery services and for these, I look at not just the quality of the meat but also at packaging, delivery, and sustainability.
The reason for this is that I believe that even if you can have a great grill but not good quality meat the result would still not be the same.
I work together with many of the top brand grills and food delivery services. Some of them sent me products to review and I always do that in an unbiased way.
